The latest rankings of annual passport indexes revealed that six countries, namely France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain, secured the top spot globally in providing travel freedom to their citizens.
Top Ten Rankings
These countries excelled in the ranking, enabling their citizens to access 194 destinations without the need for a visa, according to the Henley passport rankings Index.
Three countries shared the second position in this ranking, namely Finland, South Korea, and Sweden, offering the possibility to access 193 destinations visa-free.
Four countries occupied the third position, namely Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands, allowing their citizens to travel to 192 countries.
The fourth position, providing travel freedom to 191 destinations, included five countries: Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.
Greece, Malta, and Switzerland shared the fifth position, with the ability to access 190 destinations without a visa, followed by Australia, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, and Poland in the sixth position, with a total of 189 destinations.
In the seventh position, Canada, Hungary, and the United States tied with a total of 188 destinations.
While Estonia and Lithuania secured the eighth position with a total of 187 destinations, Latvia, Slovakia, and Slovenia obtained the ninth position with a total of 186 destinations.
Iceland claimed the tenth position, allowing access to 185 destinations.
Ranking of Second Citizenship Programs
As for countries offering citizenship programs through investment, the rankings were as follows:
Malta: Ranked 5th, providing access to 190 countries.
Saint Kitts and Nevis: Ranked 25th, granting access to 157 countries.
Antigua and Barbuda: Ranked 27th, allowing access to 153 countries.
Saint Lucia: Ranked 32nd, providing access to 148 countries.
Grenada: Also ranked 32nd, enabling access to 148 countries.
Dominica: Ranked 34th, offering access to 144 countries.
Türkiye: Ranked 52nd, allowing access to 118 countries.
Vanuatu: Ranked 58th, providing access to 94 countries.
Arab Countries Passport Rankings
Regarding Arab countries, the rankings were as follows:
The UAE topped the list at 11th place, providing access to 183 destinations.
Qatar ranked 53rd, offering access to 108 destinations.
Kuwait secured the 55th position, allowing access to 102 destinations.
Bahrain was positioned 59th, providing access to 91 destinations.
Oman secured the 60th position, granting access to 90 destinations.
Saudi Arabia ranked 61st, allowing access to 89 destinations.
Worst Passports
As for the ten worst passports for 2023, they were as follows:
Lebanon, Iran, Sudan, and Iran: 45 destinations.
Sri Lanka and Eritrea: 43 destinations.
North Korea and Bangladesh: 42 destinations.
Nepal, Palestine, and Libya: 40 destinations.
Somalia: 36 destinations. Yemen: 35 destinations.
Pakistan: 34 destinations. Iraq: 31 destinations.
Syria: 29 destinations.
Afghanistan: 28 destinations.
